April is Confederate History Month in my state, so I’m going to spend this week drawing portraits of notable females from the American Civil War (also known as the “War of Northern Aggression” ). Just to be contrary, on Thursday, Saturday and Monday I’ll be doing portrayals of women from the Union.
This week is meant to satisfy my artistic masochistic tendencies by attempting to depict women with odd hair and ruffled collar with only antiquated 140 year old pictures the size of my thumb for a reference.
Mary Chesnut
Clara Barton
Augusta Wilson
Harriet Tubman
Rose O'Neal Greenhow
